Web Hosting Services

Let’s look at web hosting services briefly.  There are numerous ones available if you do a simple search online. I hear about ones that are popular and which are raved about by various people on some of the social networking sites like facebook or twitter, and in various blogs.  I can’t help but wonder whether some of the reviews I’ve read are really independent and totally objective, or whether they might be written by affiliates, who are getting a commission for referring people to their sites.  I’m not putting down the affiliate programs, because they are good for many people, and affiliate marketing is great.  It’s just that I do question a review that purports to be objective in such a case.

My advice, then?  Don’t check just one review site when looking for a web hosting service, check several if you have the time to do so, and don’t depend just on the review itself, but go to the actual website for the hosting service, and compare their packages.  If you’re new to web hosting, first you need to educate yourself to find out what all the services offered include.  You need to know what features you need for your website, and then check to see whether those features are included in the price or whether there are extra costs for them.  I know this from experience!

I’m not recommending a web hosting service, but I do recommend that you check for reviews by searching for reviews and then check at least two or three of the ones you find.  And do try to find out whether they’re actually independent and objective ones.
